Break Dance

Break dance was initially a part of hip hop movement played by the youth of Africa and America in the earlier decades. It was considered s street dance style. The music that is played fro break dancing is pop, hip hop, funk or even remix. Sometimes musical parts from different songs are combined together and plated for breakdancing. Nowadays breakdancing has become a dance of discipline as against violent street dance style.

The person breakdancing is called a Break dance r or simply breaker. The style of breakdancing has change from the rude street dance style to more etiquette style concentrating on the dance steps. Break dance is now wide spread across the globe and people irrespective of race, gender and culture enjoy this style for dancing. Initially people Break dance in streets and now there are many stages for the Break dance rs to show their skill.

Break dance gained popularity through Michael Jackson and various other gangs. In 1980s Break dance was very popular and you cannot see any parties or disco clubs without breakers. Though the popularity faded in mid 19s the present decade is a golden time for Break dance. Thanks to many movies, TV shows and other media which have recognized Break dance as a dance style and now it is very popular among the youth.

Steps in Break dance

Break dance allows imagination and improvisation of dance steps but has a specific routine of steps to be performed on stage. The routine starts with toprock where the steps are performed in standing positions. This stage incorporates style and flexibility matching the rhythm of music played. This serves as a warm up for the dancer.

Downrock refers to the steps performed with the foot of the dancer. It involved more footwork as in 6-step. The foot speed and the control of footwork of the Break dance r is typically exhibited in this step of Break dance.

Then the dancer will start performing power moves which requires the dancer to expose the strength of the upper part of the body. The dancer will use hands and heads for the movements. The common power moves include swipe, flare and windmill. Many moves will resemble the gymnastic and martial arts.

Freeze moves are loved by audience. The dancer will stop his movements and wait for a few seconds in a stylish pose. This also requires the dancer to show his upper body strength.

Suicides are the dance moves that are applauded by the audience and more difficult for the dancers. This move symbolizes the end of Break dance. The breakers will appear to loose their control and fall off with their backs or stomachs hitting the stage. When the moves create much pain for the breakers, they appear very natural for the audience.

The breakdancing gangs have evolved competitions called battles among them to show their potential to the audience. They dance in open space or stage and dance according the music in fast paced, turn based routines. Winners of the battles are determined by complex combination of moves.

The dresses worn by breakers are also gaining attention these days. They generally wear baggy pants and easy go T shirts with an Adidas shoe with maximum grip and bandannas on their heads. The headwears they use assist them in performing head spins with ease.

The music for Break dance is played by the DJ by stringing together rhythmic breaks of different dance records and there will be no melodious elements in the music. The music will be a thunder and needs the Break dance r to dance with full energy. Breakdancing is an art that can be practiced by anybody. To Break dance, you need to have physical fitness and know the steps involved. It is not as on the go type of dancing. You need to be trained well to become a Break dance r and you can get this training from any hip hop dance school.
